Bedroom Style

A way to reflect your unique style and personality

Is your bedroom style lacking a little WOW factor?

Would you like your bedroom to showcase your personality and preferences? Would you like it to reflect a healthy lifestyle? Do you need some help to figure out your own bedroom style?

Here you'll find some tips to answer those questions so you can make your bedroom fit your own needs and unique preferences and personality.

Your bedroom can reflect your personality and preferences in unique ways if you choose to furnish and decorate the room according to the things you like best. It can also be a more inviting room if you plan and arrange your room for a look that is appealing to you.

Questions to Ask:

To begin, although this may seem rather obvious, a lot of people do not think about what they really like and want in their bedroom. It often can end up turning out to look quite different from what you may really prefer. So the first step is to take some time and think about what you like most, and try to surround yourself with those things.

You can then ask yourself, "How do I want to feel when I enter this bedroom?"

Do I want it to make me feel restful, passionate, playful or reflect a trendy bedroom style?

Important questions to ask yourself about your own bedroom style are:

Is this room inviting to me?

Does it bring pleasure when I see it or wake up in it?

Does it create a sense of peace?

These are key questions to answer so the room can be tailored to you and your preferences, and not just bedroom style trends that come and go. If you're able to use a bedroom designer, these kinds of questions will be asked so the room can be made according to your tastes.

Create a room that makes you feel a certain way-such as calm when you walk in, or invigorated if you prefer.

For example: if you like the tropical look, you might want to use green plants, sheer bedroom curtains, or a sheer bedroom canopy to create an airy, breezy look.

Or perhaps you want a rustic-looking bedroom reminiscent of the outdoors, so you might want a heavy-wood framed bed and furniture complete with decor such as deer sculptures or forest scenes on the wall, and thick quilted bedspreads.

Maybe you'd like to create a passionate looking room so you might prefer modern, straight lines, simple furnishings and deep, bold reddish colors.

Bedroom Colour Schemes:

Color is an important element in creating your bedroom style. If you need some ideas to help you in deciding what's best for you, take a look at some of the bedrooms and colors found on the Bedroom Color Scheme page. Colors also affect our moods and physiology so take some time in choosing them for the bedroom.

Some people like to change up their room every few years. If you like to do that and are able to-go for it! Often it gives people a "lift" to change or redecorate their bedroom. It's always nice to look at something new and different every so often-even if it just means rearranging the bedroom furniture.

Some like their rooms full of furniture and "stuff". But often this can create an underlying sense of stress. Most people find that the less cluttered an area is, the better it makes them feel because everything is in it's place and they don't feel overwhelmed by too many things in the room.

Personally, I like a pretty sparse room with minimal furniture and clutter. It makes me feel relaxed and makes the room inviting each day. It's also simpler to keep clean and neat. I also have a strong bias towards a healthy bedroom which includes having less of everything in the room. This reduces the levels of toxins and chemicals I'm exposed to each night, which can only benefit my health.

Finally, bedroom style is all about what you like and want in your room, and the look and feel that style creates for you. Fortunately, you too can incorporate many healthful bedroom items in the room too such as organic bedding, mattresses, bedroom flooring and paints.
